Addison is one month old

Oh my sweet little Addie, you are one month old as of Friday the 20th. I can't imagine my life without you. You have been such a sweet addition to our family. We are loving the sweet sounds you make. You only cry when we dress you or when your dad changes your diaper. You are very sweet. Sometimes you fight sleeping ,in my mind I think its because you can't stand a moment without your momma. You are very hard to burp but we are figuring you out and learned if we put you over our shoulder with your arms up within seconds you burp. You started out not liking the bink but just this week you decided you would try it out.. it was a hit and you really only use it during the day. At night you are so sleepy that you really don't remember that it is there for you. I love how when I am holding you close to my face you nudge your head as close as you can get. You also like when your brother talks to you. Dad is your favorite because he likes to blow on your tummy and make funny noises. When you look at your dad you open your eyes big and wide and then he calls you bug eyes. Don't be offended by this he has names for all of us!! Addie we love you and want you to know how in just 4 short weeks you have changed our home for the better. Love you my sweet little girl.

Inside Sand Box

Due to crazy wind and it being cold outside , I thought outside of the box today and thought hey lets make a little sand box for us to play with inside. We used a cookie sheet and some rice. Then we collected all our construction trucks and began loading and unloading all the rice we could stand. I then put some noodles in the sand for us to dig up and Jace began to eat the noodles and he said it was good? I don't know about him sometimes...Then he built a house which really was noodles all lined up in a row and said he was going to live there with granny and gramps. I asked him if mom and dad could live there and he said no your big. Just thought we would share our little fun project for the afternoon.

A Jace Filled Afternoon

Here are a few pics of our wonderful afternoon. Addison was fast asleep so Jace and I played!! We played trains, barrel of monkeys, and he even allowed me a few quick moments to practice taking pictures of him!! While playing with the monkeys Jace sang the no more monkeys jumping on the bed song and made sure to show me all the moves a monkey makes. After about 2 hours I told Jace we needed to check on the baby and he ran right to her and gave her a big kiss. He is always so sweet to her. He really is enjoying being a big brother. I am in love with these two. Happy Friday.

Well It is January

Well I can't believe that Christmas is over first and foremost. The thing that is puzzling to me is how fast time goes by when you are sleep deprived. I woke up today and thought can it really be the fifth of January all ready and really I have a two week old little girl!! The last few weeks have brought lots of highs and lows. I love being a mom but it is a little overwhelming trying to manage my time between two kids. I must say Jace has been doing really well being a big brother. He is so tender with his little sister and really just wants to be apart of all the action. He loves holding and loving on little Addie. He even at times has woken up while I am feeding to just come sit by feet and keep me company. What a blessing Jace has been. Boy I wish he could wake up every two hours to feed little Addie instead of me but that is not how it goes. If you know me well then you will understand why I am envious of sleep. I require a lot of it and for some reason I don't respond well without it. I do know however that give me a few more weeks and hopefully my body will adjust but for now if I could dream I would dream of sleep!! All joking aside I love little Addie and I love the sweet spirit she is bringing into our home. It has been so fun to see Dan with his little girl as well as being Jaces buddy when I am busy with Addie. We are loving this fresh start to the new year. Happy New Year Ya'll

Christmas

This is the second gift which was a marshmallow shooter.

Jace opening his Jammie's on Christmas Eve.

Well Christmas has come and gone...I find myself a little saddened that the holiday season is passing yet again and the new year is just a few short days away. As for Christmas, we had a wonderful day. First I was home from the hospital with our new addition , we were surrounded by family and of course this year Jace was super excited!!..At our house we believe Santa is a pirate because when you ask Jace want Santa says he says very loudly and proudly "Yo HO HO, Merry Christmas"! Jace has also taken a liking to the song Jingle Bells which any time we are in the car he asks to her the Jingle Bell song and states louder mom louder. I must say it melts my heart to hear Jace singing. We are trying to have traditions here at the Dunn house so this year we decided that on Christmas eve we would make a soup or chili, drive around and look at the lights and then come home and open 2 gifts before going to bed.

Jace had a lot of fun looking at lights but boy did he light up when we told him he was getting to open some presents!! The first gift were some cars Jammie's that he wanted to put on immediately before moving on to the next gift. The second gift was a marshmallow shooter that he Dan and grandpa had fun with. The especially liked torturing the dog. Then it was off to bed we read the night before Christmas and fast asleep was my not so little man.

Christmas morning was so fun!! We hid the big present in our laundry room and the first thing I do in the morning is go to the laundry room and Jace says hey a train and I was like no there is no train lets go look at the presents around the tree!! He woke up and didn't even notice all the gifts around the tree, but when we told him Santa had come he was so excited!! Jace was such a big helper when it came to opening gifts he basically opened all the presents. He was like a tornado not even caring about what he opened. The two things he played with the most after opening were the train Christmas ornament and the mater with a blue hood. He however has loved playing with all the toys that we along with Santa found him.

We are abundantly blessed and have more than we really need. We had a wonderful Christmas!! Now it is time to prepare for next year since I will have 2 children to buy for!! Just kidding now it is time to focus on being a mommy of 2 children and learning how to due the balancing act!!

Our Big Arrival!!!

Well to our surprise Addison Marie Dunn was Born on December 20th 2011 at 5:14 pm. She weighed in at 6lbs 11oz and was 19 inches long. She has a nice head of dark brown hair and has the demeanor of what I think to be an angel. Now for the story of how it all went down brace yourselves because here I go!!

It all started on Monday the 19th. For me I got up went to the gym and started my last finishing touches to the house. I guess you could say my last nesting days... Dans parents were on there way from Utah do to arrive around 1pm. My first clue that things were going to be crazy was the doctors office called and asked that I change my appointment from 9:30 to 11:30 which at the time in my head was good because I still was not done with my cleaning. I left for my appointment feeling good. I thought well after this 10min check up I will go get a pedicure and run some last minute errands. Well that did not happen the doctor was 45 min behind schedule and when she checked me she said you are dilated to a 3. She then checked the heart rate of the baby and stated it was a little blah. So she hooked me up to the monitor at the office. After about 20 min of monitoring she asked that I go to the hospital to be admitted for further observation and that possibly I would be having a baby today!! Ahhh I began to freak out. I am not ready I needed a pedicure!! Thank goodness Dans parents got her just in time to go with me to the hospital since Dan was working. We went to the hospital and they monitored me, gave me yet another ultra sound, and decided to send me home at around 7pm to let nature take its course. The doctor and the nurses both stated we will see you back later tonight.

Tuesday December 20th, I started this day at the gym, I was feeling normal so I thought why not!! We then spent the morning running errands and heading to the dreaded walmart to get all the groceries that we would need for the week just in case the baby was to arrive. While at walmart I started to have some contractions nothing painful just noticing the were there. By the time we got home and put groceries away and started to eat some lunch I was having contractions every 3 min and they kept getting stronger and more painful. I called the doctor and had to wait for them to call me back by then it was really getting to the point were it hurt. At 3:45 we arrived at the hospital. Dan was starting to panic and when we went to check in there was a line so we rushed upstairs just to be told that Dan would have to go back down to fill out the paper work. By the time the finally checked me I was an 8 and in much pain i TOLD them I wanted the drugs but it was to late they tried but by then the contractions were every 30 seconds and I felt like I needed to push. I would like to note that all this happened in an open triage room with 2 other women in there whom they had to rush out because I was going to deliver a baby right then and there. The labor and delivery floor was totally full and they had no room for us to go to before and after delivery. I can't image what Mary must have been going thru having to deliver Jesus the savior in a barn. She is one amazing women!! Now I started to panic because I never thought I would have to do this without the pain meds, in an open room full of people and 2 doctors one male and one female, but I did it and in 4 pushes baby Addison was born. I must say I am very proud of my hubby for being strong. I am sure it was hard to watch the horror. We have laughed about it the last few days and feel that although it was a complete disaster , we were being watch out for. We had great care, from the hospital and from our family and friends. I am feeling overwhelmed and yet blessed all at the same time. Jace is adjusting very well to being a big brother. I love my family and am honored call myself a mother. Welcome to the world Addie, we love you and hope you find this journey in life a joy.

Love,

Dan , Cassie , and Jace
